Is the
Square Egg the hardest
and most frustrating Puzzle Ever?!
Press Release 23/04/2006
The Bedlam ® Cube - a new puzzle craze which is sweeping
the globe and was a total sell out last Christmas, has now launched
the ‘Bedlam Egglam Cube’. The new puzzle cube is said
to be the hardest cube of them all and was launched a few weeks
ago just in time for Easter...however despite thousands being
sold already no one has actually managed to solve it yet!
The Egglam Cube is the considered the Holy Grail of the range,
and was launched at Hamleys (London), FAO Schwarz (New York),
At Whoopee Toy Shop (Plymouth) and on the company’s website.
Normally the Bedlam Cube has 19,186 different solutions just to
put the pieces back in the box, but now with the Bedlam Egglam
its just 198 solutions. So far almost 100,000 cubes have been
sold and only 100 people have come forward to claim their Golden
Certificate and prove they have solved it! Which on average works
out at every 1000 cubes solved – someone can do it!
Danny Bamping, the entrepreneur who runs the Devon based
Bedlam Puzzle Company stated;
“To coincide with Easter we released the Bedlam Egglam
Cube or to some it’s ‘The Square Egg’. This
cube is different from the rest of our range as the aim is slightly
different. Players must fit the small single yellow piece into
the middle – so that it does not show on the outside, they
must also then solve the cube itself at the same time! To many
an Egglam Cube will be for life – not just for Easter! We
are astonished so far that no one in the last 3 weeks who bought
one has managed to solve it”
Bruce Bedlam the Egglam Cube inventor stated:
“This is the ultimate 3-D Puzzle, with less than 200 solutions
it is very solve but very easy to play! Even geniuses who have
solved the Bedlam cube – now have a new fresh challenge
and one that may last for years. Finally the Square Egg is here.”
The Bedlam Cube will be available in several large retailers
this year and is posed to become another best seller this Christmas,
after it was featured on the BBC business show – ‘Dragons
Den’ at the end of last November. The company is also planning
other new products for later in the year – which will no
doubt again attract a lot of attention.
Notes to editors:
Danny Bamping was recently included in the Top 50 Entrepreneurs
of 2005 – placed at no 28 after his performance on the cult
BBC 2 business show Dragons Den.

Not many pitchers on the Dragons Den manage to secure investment.
Even fewer manage to prise money from the Dragons’ grasp,
only to then turn them down after the cameras have stopped rolling.
But then again, not many entrepreneurs are Danny Bamping. After
persuading Rachel Elnaugh and Theo Paphitis to part with £100,000
to fund his Bedlam Cube, Bamping decided to keep his stake in
the business, while cannily raising the profile of his fiendish
puzzle, by accepting a bank loan instead. Bedlam would be found
in toy store Hamleys; had it not completely sold out at Christmas.
Danny Bamping, Bruce Bedlam and the Bedlam Puzzle Company will
be at the ‘Toy Fair’ in London (Excel, Docklands)
this week – Wednesday 25th Media day!
