WORLD RECORD SET
ON NEW PUZZLE!
On Saturday 11th December history was made as a new world record
was set for completing the Bedlam Cube as fast as possible. The
new 3-D Puzzle cube launched exclusively at Hamleys of London
just a month ago – has already become a best seller and
is now outselling the newly re-launched Rubik Cube by 4-1!
The record time was recorded by the Devon based entrepreneur
Danny Bamping, who is also the Managing Director of the company
behind the puzzle. His amazing time of 09.54 seconds is the first
below 10 seconds and almost 5 seconds better than the previous
record held by the Bedlam Cube inventor – Bruce Bedlam.
Danny Bamping said:
“Since our launch 3 weeks ago I have been in London most
of the time demonstrating the Bedlam Cube, due to the fact it
has been very hard to find demonstrators as the cube is that hard
to master! This weekend Bruce came up to the store for the 3rd
time and signed cubes and helped me demonstrate!
We decided it would be a good opportunity to try and beat the
record and most of Saturday afternoon we entertained the Hamleys
shoppers with our attempts – and sold many cubes in the
process!”
Bruce Bedlam stated:
“I’ve been doing the Bedlam Cube since I invented
it 20 years ago – and always knew I was the fastest person
in the world to complete it. This weekend however that is clearly
not the case, Danny has the record now and I was astounded at
the speed he achieved it – beating the 10 second milestone!
It’s going to be a tough time to beat – but I’m
glad Danny has the record – after all he is 23 years younger
than me! – so his hand eye co-ordination is somewhat quicker!”
Danny ended by saying:
“So far only 30 people have been granted GOLDEN CERTIFICATES
to say they have completed the BEDLAM CUBE. It actually has 19,186
solutions, so that’s pretty amazing really! I’ve yet
to find one of my own – although I do know 4 ways to complete
it, as I was shown 3 by Bruce and learnt the way it comes manufactured
so that I could demonstrate that the 13 pieces do actually go
back into the box!”
The Bedlam Cube was recently launched at Hamleys
of London and on the internet through its website www.bedlamcube.com.
It is also available from the
British Science Museum & the popular Silver version is
now available on the front page of www.iwantoneofthose.com
– The Bedlam Cube goes on general sale early next year.
